OBE Intensive Workshop at the Monroe Institute

The OBE workshop is held in a very special place; The Monroe Institute. TMI was created by the author, Robert Monroe who is a pioneer in the study of out-of-body experiences and altered states of consciousness. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains just 30 minutes from Charlottesville, Virginia this place is magical.

Upon arrival, we are immediately greeted by a member of the institute who shows us our room and takes us on a tour of the facility. It’s like a friendly family home, or lodge and the atmosphere is cozy. In our individual rooms we are shown our CHEC units. This is a partially enclosed bed to sleep but also a special space dedicated for our OBE practice. Inside each unit is a high fidelity headset and speakers.

On the beautiful grounds of the institute is a large, magnificent crystal, which adds a special résonance to this place.

The workshop is a six-day program and is extremely intensive. A wide variety of OBE methods are practiced all day and into the night. William Buhlman, the author of Adventures beyond the Body, is our teacher. His teaching is unique in the world and he explains things based on his own experiences. His passion is evident as he shares with us his decades of personal experience, including his lessons and challenges. We learned many things that are not found anywhere else. Our OBE practice sessions takes place in our individual CHEC units as William directs us with the support of the Hémi-Sync technology and guided visualizations which enables us to reach deep relaxation states quickly.

We leave this workshop with many tools and answers to our questions. And above all, we leave this course knowing how to effectively continue our explorations. I have been practicing out-of-body experiences for 14 years now and have had many experiences of all kinds (OBE, lucid dream, etc.) and was amazed how much I learned and experienced. William is an exceptional and unique teacher in this field. You really have to take advantage of this opportunity because this special workshop will not exist forever.

One thing that is important; there is an exceptional energy in the group participants. To meet people from different countries and back grounds.  For instance, there were, in our group, two doctors and a priest (it is an indication how much William touches all kinds of people). Being gathered around such a sensitive subject, sharing unique moments created a new family. The last day of the workshop, before leaving, we all have some tears into our eyes.

This workshop is a life-changing six-days and is unique in the world. I've done a lot on OBE and lucid dreams, but I've never attended a workshop as profound as this one.
